HADM 501. Healthcare Leadership and Organization Theory. 3 Hours.

Prepares students to apply leadership theories, systems thinking, and organizational behavior in the context of healthcare organizations. Prepares students to analyze ways in which healthcare leadership contributes to the success or failure of organizations as well as affect the delivery and quality of care. Allows students to explore issues confronting healthcare leaders and best practices employed to lead successful organizations.

HADM 502. Foundations in Public Health. 3 Hours.

Provides an overview of the foundation, functions, and scope of public health. Introduces an interdisciplinary approach to review federal, state, and local health care and how the public health system has evolved including the impact of social determinants of health. Engages students in a synopsis of health problems, diseases, risk factors that affect the public, and the role of health professionals.

HADM 503. Financial management of Healthcare Organizations. 3 Hours.

Provides an overview of finance principles and financial management techniques used in the healthcare industry. Examines budgeting, reimbursement, financial planning, capital planning, financial statement analysis, and financial decision making in health care organizations. Students will also be introduced to sources of funding for public and private health services.

HADM 504. Healthcare Strategic Planning & Marketing. 3 Hours.

Focus on the management of strategic planning in healthcare organizations. Provides an overview of marketing in the healthcare industry, market assessments, strategic planning processes and formats, and promotion of the mission, vision, and values of an organization.

HADM 505. Healthcare Quality and Process Improvement. 3 Hours.

Prepares students to lead, evaluate, and improve healthcare delivery system quality workings and approaches for maximizing quality in healthcare organizations. Students will apply concepts and practices of quality assessment, control, improvement, outcome analysis, and accreditation.

HADM 506. Healthcare Law, Ethics, & Policy. 3 Hours.

Students will analyze case law, and the legal and ethical considerations associated with the management of health delivery systems. Students will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of torts, contract law, records management, malpractice, corporate liability, and key federal and state regulations.

HADM 507. Management of Healthcare Data and Information Systems. 3 Hours.

Focuses on the methods for managing health data and the technologies used to collect, store, retrieve, and process healthcare information, ensuring patient safety and quality of care. Students will learn to analyze, interpret, and present health data using appropriate statistical tools and techniques. They will apply data-driven decision-making methods to address a variety of healthcare issues. Additionally, students will identify and apply standards for data collection, health information exchange, and interoperability to ensure the integrity, reliability, and security of healthcare data.

HADM 508. Project Management for Healthcare Administrators. 3 Hours.

Explores the principles of project management including project scope, time management, cost management, and budgeting. Provides students with the knowledge and skills to complete projects within healthcare organizations using various project management techniques and tools, communication approaches, risk management strategies, and best practices.

HADM 509. Healthcare Human Resource Management. 3 Hours.

Examines human resources issues that healthcare system administrators face. Students develop and evaluate personnel practices such as job analysis and descriptions, recruitment, selection, compensation, benefits, and grievances.

HADM 510. Healthcare Operations Management. 3 Hours.

Explores the principles of operations management in the healthcare setting. Provides an understanding of the organization and delivery of health services. Integrates the use of multiple modalities to assist the student in examining the types of operational and tactical decisions made by healthcare managers.

HADM 511. Healthcare Economics. 3 Hours.

Students will gain an understanding of the concepts of economic theory and analysis as applied to healthcare delivery in the U.S. Issues discussed will include supply and demand for services, issues in a competitive market, reimbursement systems and health insurance, and involvement in the public sector.

HADM 512. Rural & Urban Healthcare. 3 Hours.

Establishes a broad understanding of the delivery of healthcare in rural and urban settings. Students will analyze the disparities that exist between rural and urban settings, including the impact that politics and economics have on healthcare provisions.

HADM 513. Health Insurance & Managed Care. 3 Hours.

Provides an overview of health insurance in the United States with an emphasis on private health insurance markets and managed care. Topics include risk pools, the role of employer-sponsored insurance, health saving accounts, consumer-directed plans, and the impact of managed care on hospitals and physicians.

HADM 514. Healthcare Systems Management. 3 Hours.

Investigates the conceptual frameworks and practices associated with key management functions in health organizations. Students will integrate program concepts into a cumulative project highlighting the student's readiness to lead an organization including the opportunity to identify and address strategic opportunities using effective management strategies for complex and interprofessional healthcare environments remaining grounded in Systems Thinking.

HADM 515. Healthcare Informatics & Data Analytics. 3 Hours.

Examines healthcare informatics and data analytics to drive healthcare decisions. Students will incorporate common descriptive and inferential statistical techniques used in the analysis and presentation of healthcare data.

HADM 516. Healthcare System Internship. 3 Hours.

Students complete a proctored field experience, where they apply and integrate principles of healthcare leadership, healthcare economics and finance, informatics, personnel and operations management, healthcare policy, and public health.
